The bereaved families send people in the forms of cow so that they can roam the valley in the memories of the deceased souls. Insofar, it is also believed that the entrance of Mrityu Log is closed for the year and it will be opened on the day when Gai Jatra is celebrated. In that condition, on this day, the departed souls will get emancipation after the day is celebrated. It is written in Garud Purana.
